Test Valley Borough Council is on course to help Andover College with funding to build the proposed Technology and Skills Centre by loaning them part of the money that is required to get the centre up running.
At its meeting at the end of October, cabinet agreed to put a recommendation to full Council at its meeting on the 12 th November, to approve a loan. The loan would be subject to the college agreeing a suitable package of support with Hampshire County Council and Enterprise M3 LEP. Once open, the new facility would provide young people with learning opportunities in engineering, construction and related vocational courses.
I am hopeful that the full council support this funding package to help create a brand new Technology and Skill Centre, which would be a fantastic addition to the Andover college in St Mary’s Ward. The centre would allow the college to run highly desirable vocational courses which would would contribute to meeting local demand for practical skills.
The proposed funding would comprise a loan of £240,000 from Test Valley Borough Council to the college on favorable terms for a period of 10 to 15 years. This project would support two of the councils corporate priorities; to develop a competitive local economy and to encourage communities to reach their full potential.Leave a comment
