The Council will soon be starting work, on behalf of Hampshire County Council, to implement a new shared use cycleway through the Vigo Recreation Park and across Adelaide Road via a new uncontrolled crossing. Across East Street there will be a new toucan crossing which will make this Road much safer for the large amount of pedestrians that regularly use this area.
The new route will join with the existing town centre shared use cycle routes. This scheme is intended to help improve cycle links between the town and the new development at Picket Twenty.
The work is due to start on Monday 13th October and is due to be compleated in 12 weeks. The majority of the works will be undertaken using traffic management. There will be a 3 to 4 week closure of Adelaide Road at its junction with Vigo Road roundabout. A diversion will be in place with 5 to 6 nights of closures at East Street for resurfacing works.Leave a comment
