by nigellong on 16 January, 2014

Site of new Music Venue?

An application from Rockhouse Promotions Plc to turn the former auction house area of 41a London Street has been received by the Council. The intention is to provide a bar in the existing ground floor office area.  The rear of the building to be used for live music. The front bar area is likely to be open seven days a week, but the live music area will be used less frequently.

The application seeks the following: Live music- 1900 to 2300nhours seven days a week, recorded music – 0900 to 2330 hours Sunday to Tuesday, 0900 to 0000 hours Wednesday and 0900 to 0300 hours the following morning Thursday to Saturday.

The sale of alcohol for consumption on the premises- 9am to 23.30pm Monday and Tuesday, 9am to midnight on Wednesday and 9am to 3am the following morning on Thursday to Saturday. The venue also wants to serve late night refreshment.

Since the George pub stopped having live groups performing at its pub there is a need for a venue like this, so the younger people of our Town have somewhere to go for live music.

sounds brilliant! hope this happens :))

A decent sized wooden sprung dance floor wouldn’t go amiss

This is a great idea. With the unfortunate demise of “The George Venue” I’m please that someone hasn’t given up on the live music this town deserves. As long as the new venue supports both local and national acts (Like the George), and supports local music events, such as “The Fairplay, Andover Youth Gig series” and “Crispystock Music Festival”.
