Police in the Andover area have announced that it is extending its operation at reducing crime in our town. The operation Nemesis is a concentrated effort by Andover police force to cut the number of burglaries from vehicles & homes. This campaign runs until 31st of March 2012.
The recent statistics which the police released have shown an increase in this type of offense.
Inspector Ian Whyton said this campaign brings extra resources: the roads policing unit, with their automatic number plate recognition vehicles & they’ll be given a plan to target area’s where we are suffering particular issues around car crime.
In Andover there were 35 incidents, which is less than previous years. There’s been a lot of talk about the current economic climate & suggestions that we may see an increase in inquisitive crime, not just in house burglaries. But still year on year we have still had less burglaries & car crime than we did the whole of last year.
